Book Day on 2nd January
Observance of Book Day on 2nd January, on that day, students from Pre-primary to class X of all the recognized Government / Government Sponsored / Government Aided Schools will be provided with the text Books in Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Santali, Nepali, English, Odiya and Telugu medium free of cost.

Observance of Book Day on 2nd January for the year 2020

Apropos the subject cited above, this is to inform him/her that-
(i) It is expected that all books have been sent to the respective schools as per requisition within 15.12.2019.
(ii) The Book Day for the year 2020 will be observed across the State of West Bengal on January 02, 2020.
(iii) On that day, students from Pre-primary to class X of all the recognized Government / Government Sponsored / Government Aided Schools will be provided with the text Books in Bengali, Hindi, Urdu, Santali, Nepali, English, Odiya and Telugu medium free of cost.
(iv) All the sub-Inspector of schools under his/her control will be mobilized for the purpose with an instruction to involve heads of the institutions, local Panchayat, Municipality, recognized Teachers' Association, eminent personalities, social workers and the guardians.
(v) For the proper implementation of the programme, advice and co-operation shall be sought for from the Sabhadhipati of the Zilla Parishad, District Magistrate and Chairperson of the District Primary School Council /Kolkata Primary School Council / Siliguri Primary School Council and School Board, GAT, Darjeeling as the case may be.
(vi) The State Government has decided to launch Anti Tobacco Campaign with the pledge (copy attached ) in all High and Higher Secondary Schools of West Bengal on 02.01.2019. The students will take oath at the end of the prayer on that day. The District Inspector of Schools (SE) are requested to ensure compliance of the programme.
He/ She is also requested to furnish report on observance of Book Day 2020 to the ADSE (NTB), through e-mail textbooksectionwb@gmail.com within 3:00 pm on the day positively.
Any lapse on the part of the District Inspector of Schools (PE/ SE) will be viewed seriously.
