Consumption of poultry and poultry products

Consumption of poultry (পোল্ট্রি) and poultry products may be considered safe
(Suggestions by OIE/WHO regarding affairs of Coronavirus)

Please refer to your email dated 10th.February ,2020 seeking clarification on the issue of livestock product consumption vis ∅ vis 2019-novel Coronavirus. In this regard, it is clearly stated that the main route of infection in the 2019 novel Coronavirus is the human himself, the human-to-human transmission, according to the OIE, through 2019-novel Coronavirus may have had the animal source, which requires further investigation. Poultry has not been found to be involved in transmission of 2019-novel Coronavirus to human so far in any report globally. Similar viral outbreaks of Coronavirus in the past or Corona associated common cold had no involvement of poultry or poultry products world over.

Thus, with present knowledge of affairs of  2019 Novel Coronavirus, consumption of poultry and poultry products may be considered safe. General principles of hygiene, however, may be followed as per suggestions of OIE/WHO.
