Centrally Sponsored National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Examination

(For the students studying in class-VIII)

There is no provision to submit the hard copy of the form either in the Directorate of School Education, Bikash Bhavan or in the office of DI/S (SE) of any district.

Instructions for Online Application of NMMSE-2022

Eligibility for NMMSE
  • Students of class-VIII (Eighth) who secured 55% and above marks as per mark sheet  of Class-VII (Seventh) Examination are eligible to appear in the Centrally Sponsored National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Examination (NMMSE) 2022 for class-VIII (5% relaxation to SC, ST, Physically Disabled candidates).
Disability of the candidate (40% or above disability) must be certified by the Competent Medical Board of the State Government /Central Government wherever it is necessary, this is mandatory.
  • Students of Jawahar Navodaya VidyalayaKendriya Vidyalaya and State Government run residential schools or any Private school are not entitled to get Scholarship. The students must be studying (অধ্যয়নরত) in recognized Govt Schools /Government Aided School/ Local Body and Government Sponsored Schools including Madrasah without residential facility.
  • Parental Income should be below Rs. 3,50,000/- (Rupees three lakh fifty thousand only) per annum from all sources. Income Certificate is to uploaded.

1. For salaried persons employed in Government Semi Government and Government Aided Organization/ Institution, Employer Certificate for the period from 01.04.2021 to 31.03.2022 to be uploaded.

2. For Other person, Income Certificate for the period from 01.04.2021 to 31.03.2022 obtained from any competent Authority not below the rank of Joint BDO/Executive Officer or equivalent (in case of Corporation and Municipality area) is to be uploaded.
  • Every applicant must have a bank Account in his /her name in SBI or any Public Sector Bank or any scheduled bank which has core banking facility. This Account may be single or a joint Account (in case of Joint bank Account, he /she must be the first holder of that Account). Once the bank details is submitted it is final and no request regarding change in the bank Account number will be entertained.
Note: Bank Account details of the candidates with core banking facility are mandatory.
  • The applicants, who have Aadhaar Cards, link the Bank Account with your Aadhaar Card positively and mention the same in the space provided in the application.
  • There are two (02) Educational Districts in addition to 23 Administrative Districts in West Bengal. Those are Barrackpore Education District (Sub-Division: Barrakpore and Bidhannagar) and Siliguri Education District (Sub-Division: Siliguri)
1. If an applicant is studying in any school under Barrackpore or Bidhannagar Sub-Division, he/she must choose Barrackpore district instead of North 24 Parganas or Kolkata.

2. If the candidate is studying in any school under Siliguri Sub-Division, he/she must choose Siliguri as district instead of Darjeeling.

Applicant should opt for the district in which his/her school is situated.

Filling up application Form online for NMMSE-2022

(Please go through the instruction carefully before filling up the form Online)

A. Step: I
At first click on the 'New User Register Here' link and fill-up the personal details along with one Mobile number (a Mobile number used once, could not be used 2nd time for registration) and register. A registration (নিবন্ধকরণ) number will be generated which should be noted down along with the Password given for further login to the system.


B. Step: II
(i) Login to your account using registration number and password.

(ii) Edit the form and fill in other details and upload scanned copy of your passport size photograph. The image file for your photo/ photograph should be in .jpg/.jpeg format and maximum size limit is 50 KB (3.5 X 4.5 cm). The background of the photograph will be white/ off white and it should be clear. No selfie as a photograph will be allowed to upload. Save the form. The application form may be edited until it is locked by you.

(iii) Once the form is completed and corrected with all particulars, the same should be locked. Printout of the filled-in application (one set) along with the format for Certificate from the HOI (Head of the School/Institution) should be taken out.


C. Step: III
(a) Application has to take out the printed application (আবেদন) form and Certificate format along with copies of other necessary documents as mentioned below to the Head of the School/Institution (HOI) and get the HOI Certificate signed with official seal and upload the signed Certificate to his/her account along with scanned copies of:

(i) Income Certificate of Parent
(ii) First page of Bank Passbook
(iii) The Caste Certificate issued by the Competent Authority, if applicable
(iv) Disability Certificate (40% and above disability must be certificated by the Competent Medical Board of the State Government /Central Government), if applicable

The documents must be duly authenticated by the concerned School Authority. The maximum size of every scanned document should be 200 KB.

  • Then Pass 'Finalize application' Button. Without finalization, online form fill up of a candidate will not be completed and admit card cannot be generated.
  • Caste Certificate and Disability Certificate are required only for the Schedule Caste (SC)/Schedule Tribe (ST), OBC (Other Backward Classes) and Physically Disabled candidates respectively. The application submission will be completed only when the Certificate from Head of Institution/School and other required documents are uploaded, else the candidature of the applicant will be cancelled.
  • Candidates are requested to check Email which is given in the form regarding acceptance or rejection of his/her application after online form fill up from time to time.
  • The 'rejected and unlocked' applicant will get an opportunity to rectify the application by the date as per notification.
  • The candidature of the applicant may be cancelled at any stage of the examination process without any reference if any false/incorrect information is found in the filled in application form of the said candidate. Also the fill-up application form with irrelevant/incomplete information/photograph/scanned certificates is liable to be summarily rejected.
  • Notification for downloading Online Admit Card will be given on Notice Section. Please keep checking  this NMMS scholarship portal for the same and any further information/notice relating the said NMMS examination.

Syllabus : Subject
There is no prescribed syllabus for NMMS Examination. Standard of items shall conform to the level of class VII and VIII.



Scholastic Aptitude Test comprises with Subjects

(5) Geography


All questions of the booklet for NMMS Examination are objective type. Every/each Question carries one mark. There is no negative (নেগেটিভ) marking in the said NMMS examination.


The decision of higher Authority will be final in case of any dispute/doubt (সন্দেহ) of applicant
